Ingredients

  • 350ml water (room temperature)
  • 100g sourdough starter
  • 10g salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the bread flour and water in a large mixing bowl, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Add the sourdough starter and salt, then mix until well incorporated.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm environment for 4-6 hours.
  5. Deflate the dough gently and shape it into a loaf. Transfer to greased loaf pan.
  6. Allow the loaf to rise for an additional 1-2 hours until airy.
  7. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden-brown and sounds hollow.
  9. Cool the loaf on a wire rack completely before slicing.

Notes

Ensure your sourdough starter is active for the best rise. You can refrigerate shaped loaf overnight for cold fermentation.
