- 350ml water (room temperature)
- 100g sourdough starter
- 10g salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the bread flour and water in a large mixing bowl, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Add the sourdough starter and salt, then mix until well incorporated.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm environment for 4-6 hours.
- Deflate the dough gently and shape it into a loaf. Transfer to greased loaf pan.
- Allow the loaf to rise for an additional 1-2 hours until airy.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden-brown and sounds hollow.
- Cool the loaf on a wire rack completely before slicing.
Notes
Ensure your sourdough starter is active for the best rise. You can refrigerate shaped loaf overnight for cold fermentation.
