Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Whisk together 6 egg yolks and 3/4 cup granulated sugar in a medium saucepan until thick.
  2. Gradually whisk in 2/3 cup milk and cook over medium heat until it thickens to custard consistency. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Beat 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  4. Whip 1 cup heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold it into the mascarpone.
  5. Fold the cooled egg mixture into the mascarpone mixture.
  6. Dip ladyfingers in 1 cup of cooled coffee and layer them in a serving dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  8. Repeat layering with remaining ladyfingers and top with rest of the mascarpone cream.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  10. Dust with cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

For added richness, consider incorporating coffee liqueur or a splash of orange zest. Letting the Tiramisu rest overnight enhances the flavors.
