- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 24 ladyfingers
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Whisk together 6 egg yolks and 3/4 cup granulated sugar in a medium saucepan until thick.
- Gradually whisk in 2/3 cup milk and cook over medium heat until it thickens to custard consistency. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Beat 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
- Whip 1 cup heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold it into the mascarpone.
- Fold the cooled egg mixture into the mascarpone mixture.
- Dip ladyfingers in 1 cup of cooled coffee and layer them in a serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat layering with remaining ladyfingers and top with rest of the mascarpone cream.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Dust with cocoa powder before serving.
Notes
For added richness, consider incorporating coffee liqueur or a splash of orange zest. Letting the Tiramisu rest overnight enhances the flavors.
