Description

Delightful baked vanilla donuts that are fluffy, sweet, and perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan with a light layer of cooking spray or butter.
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
  3. Combine the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and gently mix with a spatula until just combined.
  5. Fill each cavity of the donut pan about 3/4 full with batter.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  8. Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze until smooth.
  9. Dip the tops of the cooled donuts in the glaze and let set before serving.

Notes

For a thicker glaze, reduce the amount of milk. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
