- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan with a light layer of cooking spray or butter.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Combine the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and gently mix with a spatula until just combined.
- Fill each cavity of the donut pan about 3/4 full with batter.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze until smooth.
- Dip the tops of the cooled donuts in the glaze and let set before serving.
Notes
For a thicker glaze, reduce the amount of milk. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
