Description
Aromatic Rosemary Sourdough Bread combines the tangy notes of sourdough with fragrant rosemary, creating a fluffy interior and a crispy crust that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sourdough starter
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Mix the sourdough starter, warm water, and sugar until well combined and bubbly.
- Add in the flour and salt, stirring until the dough starts to come together.
- Fold in the chopped rosemary and olive oil, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Punch down the dough gently to release trapped gas, then shape it into a round loaf.
- Let it rise on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for another 30 minutes.
- Score the top of the loaf with a sharp knife, making shallow cuts.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For a tangier flavor, prepare your dough the night before and let it rise overnight in the fridge. If pressed for time, consider using an air fryer with adjusted temperature and timings.
