Description

Try a Vanilla Chai Cream Cold Brew! This creamy iced coffee combines sweet vanilla, spiced chai, and cold foam for the perfect drink

Ingredients

Scale

For the Vanilla Chai Spice Blend:

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice

  • A tiny pinch of ground cloves

  • A tiny pinch of freshly ground black pepper (optional, for authenticity)

For the Chai-Infused Sweet Cream Foam:

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream, very cold

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) whole milk, very cold (or half-and-half for extra richness)

  • 2 tablespoons vanilla syrup (or 1 tablespoon simple syrup + 1/2 tsp vanilla extract)

  • 1 full teaspoon of the homemade Vanilla Chai Spice Blend (from above)

For the Coffee Base & Assembly:

  • 1 cup strong cold brew coffee concentrate

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup (optional, for a sweeter base)

  • Ice cubes

  • Additional cinnamon or a cinnamon stick, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Craft the Homemade Chai Spice Blend
In a small bowl, whisk together the ground cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, allspice, cloves, and black pepper (if using). This fresh, homemade blend is far superior to pre-mixed chai powder and allows you to adjust the ratios to your personal taste. Set this aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Chai Cream Cold Foam
In a tall, chilled glass or metal bowl, combine the cold heavy cream, cold whole milk, 2 tablespoons of vanilla syrup, and 1 teaspoon of your prepared chai spice blend. Using a handheld milk frother, whisk, or a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, whip the mixture. The goal is to achieve a thick, pourable, and velvety consistency—like melted ice cream—with a fine, foamy texture. This should take 60-90 seconds with an electric frother. Be careful not to overwhip into stiff peaks.

Step 3: Prepare the Serving Glass
Take a tall serving glass and, if desired, add 1 tablespoon of vanilla syrup to the bottom. This will sweeten the entire drink as you sip. Fill the glass to the brim with fresh, high-quality ice cubes.

Step 4: Pour the Cold Brew
Slowly pour the cold brew coffee concentrate over the ice. If you did not sweeten the glass, you can stir the optional tablespoon of vanilla syrup directly into the cold brew at this stage.

Step 5: Layer the Chai Cream
This is the crucial step for a perfect presentation. Hold a spoon upside down, just touching the surface of the coffee. Slowly and gently pour the prepared chai cream foam over the back of the spoon. This technique disperses the foam and allows it to float gracefully on top of the denser coffee, creating a stunning layered effect.

Step 6: The Final Garnish
For a professional finish, lightly dust the top of the chai cream foam with a little extra ground cinnamon or place a cinnamon stick in the glass as a stirrer and aromatic garnish.

Step 7: Serve and Savor
Serve immediately with a reusable straw. The intended experience is to sip the drink unstirred first, allowing the cool, spiced cream to mingle with the strong vanilla coffee beneath. Then, stir it all together to enjoy the fully integrated, harmonious flavor.
