Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup red food coloring
- 1/4 cup pink food coloring
- 1/4 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into three equal parts. Color one part with red food coloring, one with pink, and leave the third part uncolored.
- Roll out each colored dough between two sheets of parchment paper into rectangles.
- Layer the colored doughs on top of each other and roll them up tightly to form a log.
- Chill the log in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Slice the log into 1/4 inch thick cookies and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool before serving. Optionally, drizzle with melted white chocolate.
Notes
- For a more vibrant color, add more food coloring as desired.
- These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Feel free to add sprinkles on top before baking for extra decoration.
