Description

Transform the classic Reuben sandwich into bite-sized, crispy delights served with a zesty Thousand Island sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb corned beef, chopped
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained and squeezed dry
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying
  • Dipping Sauce:
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Create the Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the chopped corned beef, drained sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, breadcrumbs, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and beaten egg. Make sure everything is mixed well.
  2. Form the Balls: Scoop approximately two tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball.
  3. Heat the Oil: In your deep fryer or heavy pan, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry Until Golden: Carefully place the balls in the hot oil in batches and fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Mix the Dipping Sauce: Prepare your dipping sauce by mixing mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and salt.
  6. Serve Hot: Once golden, transfer the Reuben balls onto a plate lined with paper towels and serve warm with the dipping sauce.

Notes

For a healthier version, consider using an air fryer. Prepare the mixture ahead of time for convenience.
