Description
A comforting casserole featuring layers of frozen pierogies, caramelized onions, creamy sour cream sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese.

- 1 package frozen pierogies (potato and cheese recommended)
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups sour cream
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped chives for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn deep golden brown.
- In a large baking dish, mix together 2 cups of sour cream and 1 cup of broth.
- Layer half of the frozen pierogies in the dish. Spread them out evenly.
- Add half of the caramelized onions and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining pierogies, onions, and mozzarella.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish with chopped chives before serving.
Notes
You can prepare this casserole a day ahead and refrigerate. It can also be made in an air fryer with adjusted cooking time.
