- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1/2 tbsp rice vinegar (or white vinegar)
- 2 tbsp sweet relish
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tbsp chili flakes (optional)
- 1/2 bag frozen fries
- Cheddar cheese/American cheese
- 2 onions (diced)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Begin by melting the butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Pour in the neutral oil.
- Add the diced onions to the skillet along with the salt, stirring well.
- Allow the onions to cook slowly for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Prepare the sauce by combining mayonnaise, ketchup, rice vinegar, sweet relish, sugar, and optional chili flakes in a bowl.
- Mix until well blended and creamy, then set aside.
- Prepare the frozen fries according to package instructions.
- Once the fries are cooked, sprinkle cheese on top and broil for 3-5 minutes until melted.
- Layer caramelized onions on the fries and finish with the sauce.
Notes
Caramelize onions slowly for the best flavor. The sauce can be made ahead for convenience.
