  • Author: Maria

Description

Sip on a Honey Almond Cream Cold Brew! This easy homemade drink features sweet honey, nutty almond & silky cold foam over iced coffee

Ingredients

For the Cold Brew Base:

  • 1 cup Coarsely Ground Coffee: Use a medium or dark roast with notes of chocolate, nut, or caramel for the best synergy with the almond and honey.

  • 4 cups Cold, Filtered Water

  • Cheesecloth, a fine-mesh sieve, or a dedicated cold brew maker

For the Honey Syrup (avoids clumping in cold liquid):

  • ½ cup Honey (a mild, floral variety like clover or orange blossom works well)

  • ½ cup Hot Water

For the Honey Almond Cream:

  • ½ cup Unsweetened Almond Milk (or any milk of your choice)

  • ¼ cup Heavy Cream (for a luxurious foam; substitute with full-fat coconut milk for a dairy-free version)

  • 2-3 tablespoons Honey Syrup (from above, adjust to taste)

  • ½ teaspoon Pure Almond Extract (this is the key to a potent, authentic almond flavor)

  • Optional: A tiny pinch of Salt to enhance all the flavors.

For Assembly:

  • Ice Cubes

Instructions

Step 1: Brew the Cold Brew Concentrate
In a large jar or pitcher, combine the coarsely ground coffee and cold water. Stir gently to ensure all grounds are saturated. Cover and let it steep in the refrigerator for a minimum of 12 hours, ideally 18-24 hours, for a full, smooth extraction.

Step 2: Create the Honey Syrup
In a separate jar or heatproof container, combine the ½ cup of honey and the ½ cup of hot water. Stir vigorously until the honey is completely dissolved into the water. This creates a liquid sweetener that will easily mix into your cold drinks without solidifying. Allow it to cool to room temperature before use.

Step 3: Strain the Cold Brew
After steeping, strain the cold brew concentrate through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth or a coffee filter into a clean pitcher. This may take a few minutes, but be patient for a grit-free result. You now have a versatile cold brew concentrate.

Step 4: Prepare the Honey Almond Cream
In a bowl or a large liquid measuring cup, combine the almond milk, heavy cream, 2-3 tablespoons of the cooled honey syrup, the almond extract, and the optional pinch of salt. Using a milk frother, a small whisk, or by sealing the mixture in a mason jar and shaking vigorously for 45-60 seconds, whip the mixture until it becomes frothy, slightly thickened, and pourable. The goal is a velvety foam, not stiff peaks.

Step 5: Assemble the Drink
Fill a tall glass to the brim with ice cubes. Pour the desired amount of cold brew concentrate over the ice, leaving about 1.5 inches of space at the top. For a balanced drink, a 1:1 ratio of concentrate to water or milk is standard, but you can adjust to your strength preference.

Step 6: The Artful Float
Hold a spoon upside down, just above the surface of the coffee. Slowly and gently pour the prepared Honey Almond Cream over the back of the spoon. This technique disperses the cream and allows it to float elegantly on top of the coffee, creating a distinct, beautiful layer.

Step 7: The Final Drizzle and Serve
For an extra touch of sweetness and presentation, drizzle a tiny amount of the remaining honey syrup over the top of the almond cream layer. Serve immediately with a straw, encouraging the drinker to sip through the creamy top layer first before mixing it all together for the perfect homogenized beverage.
