- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 cups sliced apples (such as Granny Smith)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the sliced apples and lemon juice, and walnuts if using.
- Spread the mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before slicing into squares.
Notes
- For a sweeter taste, you can add more sugar to the apple mixture.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
